The “Smile Therapy” Practice
~This is a Personal Anti-Depressant & Motivation Campaign~
(based on personal experience)
This is one that we have already been doing for years. We do it when we are feeling low, unhappy.
First, understand that there is a physiological connection between body and mind, with regard to physical actions and reactions. Actions, for our purpose here, are conscious – we think about them and cause them to happen. Reactions, on the other hand are just that; a reaction to a stimulus – when you put your hand on a hot stove the mind does not think about it, it just causes your body to automatically react and pull your hand away.

This Mind / Body connection can work in reverse too. When something makes you happy in real time what do you do? You smile, right? The mind, your brain says, “I'm happy,” and it causes the muscles in your face to respond, and you smile. So, in reverse when you are feeling down, a little depressed or whatnot, if you can catch yourself... then make yourself smile for 15 seconds (it has to be a good smile). Why? Because your brain will realize you are smiling and ask itself; Why am I smiling?
And it will answer itself; I must be happy.
The chemistry shifts and your mood will elevate. It really works.
*Side Note:
When people see you smiling,
it makes them smile too.
